12.27.07: Preparations are underway for two new exhibits at MOCAD set to open February 8, 2008. Holy Hip-Hop! New Paintings by Alex Melamid, featuring the world premiere of 12 new oil paintings of hip-hop artists, and ReFusing Fashion: Rei Kawakubo, an exhibit of over 40 clothing items designed by the founder of the Comme des Garçons fashion house.

07.09.07: Plans for the MOCAD Cafe are underway. The grand opening is set for September 16. The MOCAD Cafe will have an emphasis on organic food, unique sandwiches, deserts and coffees. It will provide a space for free wireless internet access, conversations and meetings.

06.15.07: The new MOCAD Store is open. The store features merchandise not sold in the metropolitan area, including specialized art and culture magazines, journals, books, limited edition artists t-shirts and other functional objects.

Artist Barry McGee's mural attracted national news coverage in the Fall of 2006 when passers-by confused his mechanical, life-size spray-painting figure hanging off the side of the building with a real person.
